"(A)dvertently including" made me sit up and take notice (half-pun intentional). It's a curious notion how our heads crave a certain monogamous constancy while areas due south of there would have it somewhat differently, and I am left to ponder if an epiphany or resurrection lasting longer than, say, four hours is a reason to seek medical attention.
Ole Charlie Bob Darwin would have said that the antlers are not necessarily for the battle, but for impressing the ladies....but you probably already knew that.
Now you have got me thinking. And we all know how difficult that might be. Thinking of certain areas and shall we say allowances for those areas. I've come to the conclusion that the lady of the longhouse would be delighted its not just the rut that gets the sitting up and taking notice anymore. Especially if there are mosses hanging from those antlers.

ladies in long houses are not often ladies in waiting
Witty. I would like to top Kens review, but that doesn't seem possible. I will say at first glance I thought this was a poem about vikings. CD

sixty years ago when I was seventeen and too busily wooing my other half to get into any more trouble The lady of the long house was not even close to a memory

I heartily applaud this review whilst sitting across the ether.
-- not sure if i'm reading this right, Maestro Ed... but this seems like quite a spin on the world of senses and sensations... pleasure and pleasing... and living and reliving the best that life has to offer...

Part of life's 'cornucopia' is, of course, language, for a writer at least, and I think this more than anything else is being acknowledged in the playful obscurantism of the poem. In the nexus or collision between the physical (antlers) and the spiritual (aura) words and phrases are resurrected, subverted, or given new life. My favourite is 'significant another', a phrase to chide the monogamously committed and that modern institution, which seems to be forever blowing up, the nuclear family.
