Pathways.

Pathways.

A Poem by Dcael

A boy once asked me,
“What are your five languages of love?”.
Loosely based on a novel he had read.
I thought. I didn’t have five languages of love, instead I had five pathways.
First, speak to me. But in the way you would like to be spoken to. This sounds simple. It is. Speak to me in a way, that you will not bring me down, listen to my thoughts. Speak, respectfully. Have a conversation that is not one sided.
Secondly, respect. Always, no matter what. In speaking your thoughts or of the things you love, hear my perspective and respect it. In return I will do the same.
Thirdly, teach me. Teach me things I do not know, or new things about the things I do know. Share my knowledge and I will share yours. Make the world a little less scary. Make it intriguing.
Fourth, let me grow. Do not stunt my growth. Grow with me, though not at a pace that hinders you. Grow together, for as long as we need to grow together. Maybe outgrow each other. Be part of my life, for as long as you need to be.
Lastly, the most important, love.
In anyway, shape or form. Show me love, grant me love. Show me the things you love and let me do the same. Accept it in everything that you do and it will be reciprocated. Give it away, throw it away or delicately wrap it.

This is what I replied.
