Old.

Old.

A Poem by Dcael

Why are people so scared of growing old?
Of grey hairs sprouting and wrinkles forming.
When we are young, the whole world is at our feet.
We worry about our grandparents, our parents.
The thought that one day they will leave us.
But we never think that one day, we will be them.
That we’ll leave a hole in our future children and grandchildren’s lives.
And we will come full circle.
As cliché as it sounds, life is what you make of it.
So let the laughter lines run across your face.
Do not be scared of the changing hair colour and the fading looks.
Embrace it.

These words are wise and oh-so-true. I'm one of those who never imagined myself becoming an old grandfather with poor hearing and squeaky joints, but here I am. As you advise, there is still joy and laughter in life.
