Half Awake

Half Awake

A Poem by Lorraine Hampton
"

there's a state of mind that occurs when your waking up or drifting to sleep. A time in which reality mingles with ideas, fantasies, and dreams.

"

Half awake

The bed is so warm

Sheets and blankets

Wrap me like a mummy.

It’s hard to resist it

The alarm screams

But Snoozing is so easy.

The sun creeps in

But I do not care

I cover my head and ignore.

My mind is hazy

But it runs wild

Half dreaming and half awake.

Ideas and dreams

Come to me here

Too bad they go by so fast.

Stories and reality

Are jumbled here

I can’t tell which is which.
