A Poem by ecasynaman

I drowned in your promises, thought they were enough.
Why am I here then, with tears and a shattered heart?
Your memories linger, can’t escape, I’m stuck.
What have I fought for?
Should have run at the start.

Your words were enough to fill a song.
I was foolish enough to believe them.
You’ve stayed long enough to prove me wrong.
Too long to spare a mayhem.

What are apologies and excuses?
But salt to rub on the bruises.
In a thin strand of sanity.
Won’t you just hush and save me?

I've had too much of you, I know
And have sunk beyond resolve
You squeeze me tighter,
breathing gets harder
I keep losing but not letting go.

But what's too much when too much is not enough?
From you I've drawn both hatred and love
I watch your chains sink deeper in my skin
Begging for your kisses to keep my heart serene.

What is the best way to say goodbye?
When words no longer matter, not even a cry
Still my tears fall betraying my fear
Of you leaving me revealing
your love was never real.

So many questions than answers . But you did very well anyway. You're more comfortable with haiku and senryu.. A love or relationship that went awry...
