![]() The Neighborhood WatchA Poem by Eddie Davis![]() A poem for the late June 'ten words I give' contest. Words to be used given in comment section.![]() ![]() Neighborhood Watch Working in her garden fair, Mustard Cress planted with care,
Granny wasn't one to snoop, but she'd stay well in the loop,
Of every Desperado, call the cops was her motto,
A fiasco came her way, when she shot Bobby DeVay
Cops were called the twelfth of June, thankfully they got there soon,
Shots were fired on that day, into Bobby's Chevrolet,
Bullets hitting with a clack! watch them striking on playback,
dashboard camera shows the fray, bullets strike then ricochet,
hitting Bobby in the head, falling on his face -- quite dead,
And with Bobby's dying breath, her neighborhood freed from Meth,
But the police took her in, contacting her next of kin, pleading guilty to the crime, expecting to get hard time,
when the gavel finally fell, Granny came out of it well,
Bobby led a robbery band, he'd had a Glock in his hand,
he'd just shot his favorite fence, Granny's lawyers' best defense,
that he wanted Granny shot, killing her had been his thought,
his Nova's loud exhaust sound, had told Granny he's around,
She had seen him raise his gun, stood her ground rather than run,
The jury bought her excuse, winning what she thought she'd lose,
record clean of any blotch, senior citizen on watch
