If time heals all wounds,

then the scars of the past fade,

but fatal wounds kill,

poisoning souls with no hope,

bringing death while one still lives

A bow to the great Lon Chaney, who used clamps and pins to distort his face into the Phantom's instead of using masks.

Lon set the bar very high for monsters. He always somehow brought a human side to the monsters he played, especially The Phantom of the Opera (which is what the picture was taken from).

Thanks, Dhaye, the photo is of Lon Chaney, the actor of years ago, from 'Phantom of the Opera'. Lon used wires, clamps and pins to distort his face for the role instead of makeup. He was in a lot of pain, it is said, but he thought it was worth it for his role.
