St. Patrick was a British boy who was taken captive by Irish pirates during a raid. He lived as a slave with his Irish captors until finally managing to escape and make it home. But he felt a calling in his life, and he became a Priest and later a bishop, but while studying in Rome, he felt called to bring Christianity to the Irish tribes. So he returned to Ireland and through his work and the works of lesser known missionaries, he turned Ireland into one of the strongholds of Christianity during the dark ages. He is said to have taught the doctrine of the trinity using a three-leaf clover. He was canonized after his death and his feast day is March 17th, known among the irish all over the world as 'St. Patrick's Day'.

Now I'm ashamed. I don't know St. Patrick... All I remember with that name is a guy in high school who broke my heart. Haha. Thanks for this, Eddie. Informative and good. I wonder why He is the 'Emerald Isle Patron'?
My favorite saint is Saint Therese of the Child Jesus. I've read her book ages ago. Though I had forgotten the contents. :(

Wow! Glad to know those things about him. I remember the song "St. Patrick's Breastplate" which I really like. So this is timely because his feast day is coming.
Good job once again, Eddie. =)

I have a 'wee bit' of Irish ancestry, so I'm very fond of the saint.
