I Admire Poets

Humbly dedicated to the masters of poetry on Writer's Cafe.

I admire poets and what they impart,

Who make us all feel, by sharing their art,

Of crimes undetected,

their rage is projected,

Of lovers selected,

and hope that’s elected,

Of prisons erected,

And arrows deflected,

Or memories protected,

And wisdom inspected,

Some are respected,

And others rejected,

Or maybe neglected,

And feeling dejected,

But when they’re subjected,

To things unexpected,

They are resurrected,

And rhymes are collected,

I may be infected,

Perhaps misdirected,

But to stay unaffected,

Is to be disconnected,

 

So I admire poets, the wise and the smart,

For sharing the things that fill up the heart

Rhyme schemes use to be the norms. Now we have free verse or contemporary style which a common norm...

Rhyming is much more challenging, at least for me.

I agree with Ate Dhaye. It's not at all easy to write in such rhyme scheme for five stanzas! My favorite stanza is this:

I may be infected,
Perhaps misdirected,
But to stay unaffected,
Is to be disconnected,

Witty and clever. Continue to cultivate the poet in you, Eddie.

Wow! This is incredible, Eddie. I admire how you maintain the b-b-b-b rhyme scheme from the 2nd up to the 6th verse. I think you have a bank of rhymed words. LOL
