![]() AgapeA Poem by Eddie Davis![]() Just a poem that I came up with today, after receiving some comfort from some good Christian friends.![]() Agape By Eddie Davis Chicken soup for the soul, Doesn’t last much past the bowl, And upon this can you depend, The love of family and a friend, It may not seem on a darker day, When November winds blow cold and grey, There is a hand which you can hold, Or human warmth to fight the cold, But like a candle’s flicker-fit, Within a draft; it still stays lit, So we the vessels of clay so flawed, Must put our trust in Almighty God, And though one day the flame shall fail, Your life will end and the mourners wail, Yet those who trust in Jesus Christ, Will find this friend the highest priced, Yet free to all who come to him, With broken souls and hope so dim, So though you may lack friend and mother, You have one closer than a brother, Who walks beside you all your life, Through glory days and times of strife, And will be surely by your side, Until the day that you have died, Then afterwards, in places grand, He will take you hand in hand, Escorting you unto your place, Fulfilling His Amazing Grace, There no more will cold winds blow, Hearts won’t pine, nor teardrops flow, There alone are my hopes stored, Life eternal with Christ my Lord © 2013 Eddie DavisReviews
