Eye view It was late evening when the same Crow flew into a concealed cave that was situated in old castle ruins, many miles south of Westmark. A tall pale man with a bald head waited for the bird and held his hand out, the crow landing in his palm. Immediately it began cawing loudly, and the bald man, who wore black robes trimmed in silver, seemed to understand the sounds as words. After a few minutes of cawing, the Crow finished his report and the Mage
nodded to him with a slight smile, sending the bird out of the cave to roost in
a nearby tree. "News from Westmark." the
man told other black robed men seated at a long table within the cave, "It
seems that the Drow has made an alliance with the Dwarves of Forgestone to set
up a branch of their armor smith guild in the town. This is unexpected, but not unwelcome. Their presence will simply accent the
suspected danger to the town and will fuel the Bitter Dregs to send knights to
the town." "Shall we send them more
challengers?" a mage asked. "Not yet, a supposed threat
should suffice for now. Let the Dwarves
set up their armory, we have other concerns to address now. Once they set up a shop and the Blood Knights
decide to open their order in the town, we’ll bring the Ah’ndengin-mat back to
test them and confirm the need of their presence. Then the way will be clear for our
plans. But for now we have other
concerns."
The bald man joined his companions
over a map of the northern kingdoms and talk turned from Westmark. © 2014 Eddie Davis |
