River

River

A Poem by ebonpinion
"

A few months ago I went through a lot of heartache. I found the river in town to be a source of comfort. Just to sit and watch it move or listen to the sounds was very soothing.

"
Your movements always amaze me
Hypnotic trances you put me in.
Your dancing fluid, sometimes graceful
Moves my soul within.

But your soul's an ever mystery
A dark current I'll never see.
For today and never
Will I let myself drown in thee.

I'll let you ease my pain.
I'll let you heal my wounds.
But I'll never allow you to engulf me
Or claim me for your own.

I will always be your watcher.
I will never be your friend.
I will never allow you, dear one,
To drown my strength within.

A strong "story" told yet it's also very soothing. Love the last verse, it ties the poem up nicely. Love it love it love it. =-)
