Like or As?

Like or As?

A Poem by eMckenzie

I never understood why love had to be like or as something.
If your love was as deep as the ocean, wouldn't you be crushed?
If love was like a rose, wouldn't it die in a week?

I never understood why love was compared to so many things.
Sometimes, love is compared to things that don't relate to the very topic of love.
"I love you more than the sun in the sky!"
What does the sun have to do with love

We compare love as if to prove a point.
It is as if we don't really know how much we love,
So we have to convince ourselves.

This is a very intriguing perspective, one I've never heard before. I quite like the way you expressed yourself in a vivid, emotional way. The why's and the really's were quite clear. The point was firmly planted. There was a deep sentiment behind this as to what love really is and how one is to decide. After all if one has ever really felt love there would probably be no comparison and if there is no comparison how does one know love exists. This piece really gets the wheels turning in my noggin. This piece didn't really strike me as a poem, but it was exquisitely portrayed nonetheless. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
