Oh, To Sail Amongst the Stars, In A Raven SeaA Poem by The Butterfly EffectI took a boat across a lake where galaxies reflected on the surface and a single swipe of my hand put ripples in the universe I once knew a girl who lived in an hourglass house with hourglass windows and hourglass walls and she sat and waited while sand fell over her filling up her hourglass house for something anything to happen And soon her breath became sand and her thoughts became sand and she, herself, became the sand that settled around her because she was too busy waiting and thinking to live And as I sit in my boat on a lake full of supernovas I realized how the hourglass girl was trapped in her hourglass world unable to reach infinity I have crickets composing symphonies by the shore and bullfrogs harmonizing in the shallows and ghosts dancing the night away in the silhouettes of moon-laden oak trees I have a lake of constellations at the tips of my fingers and, yes, it's not so hard to touch the stars when they’re right beneath your feet © 2017 The Butterfly EffectFeatured Review
