Next Time

Next Time

A Poem by eatmills

Was it suicide or self-mutilation?

Who knows?

What was the infatuation?

Who cares?

Can we mourn for him?

He’s back with the dead.

He was always hurting himself

Everybody thought it was cool

Or that he was a fool.

We were wrong

We were and are the fools

He was trying to say something.

Alas, no one caught the message.

Too bad.

We are sorry for him.

Why couldn’t he say something we could understand.

The next time this happens,

We will be aware and we will care.

What has just happened cannot be changed.

All this will be forgotten in time.

Of course, we will be a little smarter

It cost the life of our friend.

Why?

Why did he have to die?

I’ll try to remember…

We’ll likely forget.

Its sad but it's true. When people see their friends cutting they usually just think its wrong and don't try to do anything to help them. It sure sucks to lose a friend when you had the chance to catch the warnings and might have been able to help them.
Good write though.
