I Didn't Need

I Didn't Need

A Poem by eatmills
"

I didn't want an addiction But I had a vision

"

I didn’t need your affection

I didn’t need your addiction

I was looking for a distraction

And what I got was your attraction

Desperate to find the way

To find a proper course

To come another day

Life is long but far too short

Scream between the sheets

To make the pain go away

Clenching your teeth together

Everything is not okay

It’s all falling apart

The soul it crumbles

Hear the breaking heart

Hear the rumble

Misery loves company

Welcome to my happy home

Would you like a canapé?

Would you like to use the phone?

There is no one here

Just you and me

Nothing left to fear

So why can't you see?

I didn’t want an addiction

But I had a vision

It was you

And your destruction.

I love the erratic nature of this poem, and how you describe the uncertainties of everyday life. I concur with the other reader, it is very lyrical .

Funny how when we attempt to climb out of our own graves we only manage to put a few more nails in the coffin

this twisted me round and round I think it let me into your mind where the former familiar had rearranged the furniture

Sounds lyrical. I see a song writer here?

You poking fun at my Canadian accent? Lol. That video was the coolest.

Dear eatmills,

Okay. I see the major problem here. It's hard to separate desire from sanity. The heart is such a strong engine. The mind is overcome. Not necessarily a good thing. Life is so complicated. Wish there was a roadmap that would guarantee a safe journey. No such thing, however. Buyer beware. There are bumps in the road. There's a sign post up ahead. Welcome to the Twilight-zone.

Very best regards,

Rick

Thank you, Rick. I concur, the heart of desire is much stronger than the mind. My favourite episod.. read more
