Confection Addiction

Sugar isn’t nutritious
But it can’t be beat
Because it’s so delicious

 

I run with my feet
To the nearest store
I just want to eat

 

Cake, candy and more
I can’t stop the urge
When opening that bakery door

 

Doctors tells me to purge
Confection from my diet
Put a hold on the surge

 

That causes diabetes to run riot
I wish the doc and others
Would just let me eat and be quiet.

 

I'd rather eat sweets than have countless lovers
I've already outlived my father, mother and brother

Very interesting.. I like it.. Sugar is like poison. If it's artificial then it really is poison. I feel the pull for comfort food in the last lines and the comfort of loss. Nice. I enjoyed reading this. Overall a sweet piece of poetry.

I don't eat sweets a lot - but - when that craving hits there is no stopping it! Usually it's for chocolate with me, sometimes ice cream though. I like the easy rhyme of this - and I love telling the docs to shut up and leave you be. Hate doctors lol. Brought a smile to my face this morning - thanks!
