Coincidence

Coincidence

A Story by Janyce Helen Van Es

The lighter flickered and ignited his cigarette, as Detective Abusive squatted down in the dense fog. He had to examine the swollen, grotesque body in the freezing waters of New Hampshire. He was surprised to discover that the weapon was actually a very long hat pin used multiple times. It resembled the one he saw his girlfriend fiddling with before he left for work. The victim also wore a suit and hat exactly like his.

I may have said this before, but you are amazing at these little vignettes. Taking the reader on a short walk, with a little twist in the path at the end. leaving them to ponder - leading them to a certain place - but not giving definitive answers.
