Because

Because

A Poem by Janyce Helen Van Es

It isn't because you pawned my most valued possessions
That I don't buy you anything to call your own

It isn't because you binged on alcohol when I was sick
That I never call you a doctor

It isn't because you left me in the desert alone
That you don't get the car keys

It isn't because you abandoned our dogs
That I don't allow you any pets

It isn't because you messed with other women
That I chase off all of your friends

It isn't because NOW you finally love me
It's because I DON'T LOVE YOU anymore.
