Ch. 2

Ch. 2

A Chapter by Liz-z

Why is it that no matter how much I try to forgive and forget I can't? Maybe I see it for the better. Maybe it's because I use to be somebody who was really somebody in my group: the reliable one, the trusted one, and didn't like that somebody I was.

"Ms. Adams, you're late, again, your pass?" I showed Mr. Till my late pass and take a seat in the back of the class because, as usual, most of the good seats where taken.  He didn't seem pleased but I did get a pass. About two weeks into school and everything seemed set in place.Usually Katleen, a girl with a cascade of blonde hair wearing the darkest black makeup, and Seth, a dark skinned Indian with the darkest hair and a very attractive smile, sat in the back with me.

"Whatever, I was thinking of skipping class anyways," Katleen whispered and then sat back. Even though I knew we'd have lots in common I couldn't stand her. The way she thought was so different from the way I did.

"Did you hear that Ms. Adams?" Oh crap Mr. Till is picking on me again. He fold his arms and leaned back waiting for an answer. I don't know what he wants me to feel, but fear was the last thing I felt. He couldn't hurt me more than I already am. There's no way he could embarrass me. "Ms. Adams?" he asked again.

"I wasn't listening," I said honestly.

"Did you hear anything about the big project you'll be doing?" What part of 'I WASN'T LISTENING' did he not hear? The wasn't or the listening?  I stared back waiting for him to answer his own question.

"Alright then, let me tell you, but only this once, I hate repeating myself. I said you'll be paring up with Ms. Huston," Oh great just my luck, I have to work with Katleen, I thought before he continued,  "Mr. Marven," just GREAT! Jim's wonderful boyfriend, Marco, just who I needed to work with. "and Mr. Hill. And one more thing Ms. Adams?"

"What could it possibly be" I said sarcastically really know what he was going to say next.

"You have detention." That was expected. Katleen smiles at me but I look away, not too quickly, but just fast enough to ignore her next expression. The class shuts up, gets into each others group, and Biology class begins.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Here's my number and my email," Katleen says first.
"And mine," Marco adds.
"And mine," Rick throws in. Everybody throws in except for me.
"Here's my email..." I said quietly.
"And your number?" Marco, of course Marco, asks.
"No, all you'll need to keep in touch with me is my number, and I wouldn't give you my number even if I could." Everyone just looked at me.
"Alexis, this isn't because of Jim right?" He didn't have the nerve to call me Lexi didn't he?
"No," I lied. While he looked down.
"Okay-y, now that that's over with we'll talk tomorrow. Lexi will work with me, on getting info from the books and Marco with Katleen." Who made Rick boss? But I guess Katleen and him are the smartest in Bio.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's lunch and I'm sitting alone, what's new? "Okay, I was thinking, and I spent a lot of time thinking," oh great, Katleen just decided to talk me. Oh please do take a seat, I wanted to say sarcastically.
"Uh, hi," I said instead.
"Right, I always see you here, alone... Why don't you sit with me?"
"Uh, no thanks," Yeah right.
"Suit yourself, I guess I'm going to have to bring the crowd to you," who the hell did she think she was. I have one class with her and she's already got me titled as her best friend?
"Uh, no thanks," I stop her from rising. I see she's stunned. Hm, couldn't play that loner Gothic part for long huh?
Instead she took her seat next to me and ate in silence. "Hey Katy, you coming or what?" Another of her wanna be friends asked.
"Uh, no, I'll see you later," WHAT THE HELL, you back to your group, your friends. I don't need anyone.  "Unless you want to sit with us," So not only is she invading my space, but having more invaders join?
"No," I said quickly, "I have to go anyways..." they looked at me clueless, "to turn in English home work..." I said not thinking.

I threw out my scraps, headed up to the lockers, packed up my bags, and headed to the library.
