Failure

This is a poem about leaving a metaphorical home of the past that I apparently lingered in far too long. I wrote this poem in hopes of shedding some light on my depression.

Today I left my old home,

For I felt utterly alone,

Like something disposable

And the harsh light

Would not soften.

That familiar face

That understood

And that familiar place

I often stood

Fell into shadow

And grew dismal in its tone-

And so my heart turned to stone

In a resting place of its own.
