Transition

A Chapter by Eagle Scout

She was sitting in a chair in what looked like a security office, with a blank expression and staring at a monitor that showed the unmoving body of Richard.  The night’s events began to rush full tilt in her mind she took each moment scene by scene and wondered if there was anything that she could have done differently.  The answer to that was obvious to her; she should have trusted Richard and listened to his without any arguments.

“Haven’t you heard that watching too much TV will cause you to go blind?”

Angie was so trance out that she didn’t even hear the voice talking to her.  Then a finger passed in front of the monitor and turned it off.

“Don’t worry I’ve seen this one.  He’ll still be laying there after the commercial break.”

Finally blinking her eyes Angie looked up and saw the guy with Orange hair gleaming over her.  “This is not the time for sick humor.  You didn’t even know the guy.”

“Well neither did you as I recall.” Billy mentioned as he rubbed his forehead.  “That also made it easier for me to cut the rope.”

“You know you could have captured him.  It’s not like he was going to go anywhere.”

“Let me think about that one.” Billy then began to pace around the chair Angie was sitting in.  “Now if I were to have captured him then that would have given him an opportunity to try to escape latter.  Personally I could not afford that risk I have a mission that I have to complete.”

“What is this mission anyways?”

Pausing his walking Billy lean in close to her ear and whispered.  “It’s not for your innocent ears to hear.”  Then he walked to the back office.

When Angie was alone again she truly believed that all hope was lost.

Eagle Scout didn’t know if it was his vision or it he was standing in dense fog, but one thing was for sure he couldn’t tell where he was or how he got there.  He tried to recall what had happened to him, but the cloudiness made it hard for him to focus.  Then a part of the fog began to dissipate and a figure was standing there and even though Eagle Scout could see the figures face he knew who it was, her.  It is always her and no matter how hard he tries she always comes back.  She was a part of his past that his memory won’t let rest.

Something seemed very odd about this visit from her.  Usually there is a much deeper relationship between the two of them, but this time there was a coldness between the two of them.  When it comes to fear the Eagle Scout doesn’t fear much, but this moment scared him.  It was that thought that got Eagle Scouts attention.  If this vision was meant to scare him then why did it choose her to be the main focus?  As Eagle Scout stared at her he noticed that her lips were moving, but for the life of him he could not make out what she was saying.  Then as if a sonic boom went off he heard her say “GET UP”.

He had know idea how long he was out for, it could have been minutes or even hours, but when he finally came to he was thankful to be alive.  Eagle Scout laid there trying to recall the vision he just had, but just like waking up from a dream the vision had vanished.  Then he realized he was lying on the floor of the mall and like a freight train Angie and the nights events came to the surface of his mind.  He sat up trying to clear his head, and figure out what to do next, and noticed the head set he had was shattered into a hundred pieces.  So the Eagle Scout dropped the head set slowly stood up, and while rubbing his head he started walking in the direction he thought the bad guys went.  When he reached the middle of the mall where the Astronomy display was set up, he saw movement on his left side.  So he ducked down behind one of the tables so as not to be seen, and peeked around the corner to see what the movement was.

From his vantage point Eagle Scout saw the guy as he went by.  “You look like Number 7.” He said to himself.

So he cautiously followed the Number 7, by walking along the wall so he could look in all directions with out much strain, just incase some other bad guy decided to appear from another direction.  Eagle Scout followed the Number7 all the way to the food court, were he stopped off for a bit to eat.

Eagle Scout thinking of a way to sneak up on the Number 7, kept wondering about Angie and that every minute he wasted put her in more danger.  Shaking the thought of Angie for the moment Eagle Scout got back to the Number 7 who was now in the middle of making a hamburger and sipping on a soda, like he didn’t have a care in the world.

“I’ll take mine well done, and hold the onions.” Eagle Scout said catching the Number 7 off guard.

Turning around to see who was talking to him stared in shock to see Eagle Scout standing there.  “You’re suppose to be dead?” he mumbled

Taking full advantage of the situation Eagle Scout grabbed the spatula from Number 7’s hands and whacked him across the bridge of the nose.  “Will discuss my return from the dead later, but for right now, where do you have the girl?” Eagle Scout said in a slightly angered voice.

Still staring in shock at a dead man the Number 7 didn’t answer.  So Eagle hit him again in the nose.  This time the Number 7’s nose started bleeding.

Eagle Scout then repeated his question “Where is the girl?”

Staring at the blood dripping from his nose the Number 7 dropped to the floor.

Now gazing at the Number 7 passed out on the floor Eagle Scout laughed.  “Just my luck a bad guy that is scared of his own blood.”

So Eagle Scout took the body and locked it in a storage closet that was right next to the hamburger stand.

Now getting kind of hungry himself Eagle Scout finished make the hamburger that was on the grill poured a cup of soda and went to sit down and eat while he figured out his next move.
