Stand on My Own

Stand on My Own

A Poem by E.A Cummins

Sometimes I felt as if I crossed oceans for you

I stood in discomfort

I made sacrifices

To make your life easier

I traded my peace for your own pleasures

All I asked you

Was to be still

To let me have my peace

But you decided to abandon everything you had

For one thing

The thing that hurt me

The thing that turned my life upside down

And you left me

For toxicity

And now you can't even look me in the face

You're scared to say hello

There's an aura of chaos and hell to us now

You made your bed

Not so comfy is it

You walked away

Without a word

I can stand on my own

But I know you can't
