The Resurgence We Kill

The Resurgence We Kill

A Poem by Tanushree
"

A sports/pop-cultured based poem on a subject that has been ever so dear to me, and never quite advocated strongly on the written medium

"

Fighters.
Not conquerors.

Hope.
Not blind faith.

Believers.
Not the nonchalant.

All in our pleasant diaspora,
And yet we choose to see what we wish to.

The underdog that appeals to us,
For they seem to be fighting the battle we long gave up on

Who is to know the fight that goes into being the favorite?
Who is to be ever so mainstream?

For once they were in the same place,
And they forged ahead
But in our eyes?
They simply moved on

Moved on to the higher pedestal of worldly success,
And we the ones who obligate ourselves to encourage what we have so long
Never once studying our innate strengths and desires

Strength, that builds one up
Courage, that sustains it

Forging adulation from a public that so intensely desires to favor the fad,
And the hopes thereby multiplying a manifold

But we?
We choose to see what we wish to.

For in our eyes, they have not made their way up.
They have simply moved on.
