Why Love?

Why Love?

A Poem by Dylan
"

First poem. =/

"
People are always striving for love
Love is an emotion which isn't quite earned
Children are unknowingly comforted by it's embrace
Once it's gone, it can't always be returned
And for most people it is an endless race
It is felt by some from a god above
Others can't describe it, it is something they feel
It is treacherous, but it can also be as pure as a dove
But for me... I only wish that it could be real
It shatters worlds, It breaks hearts
It makes us stumble and fall
But for a lucky few it lands like a dart...
We know what love is, but why is it felt at all?
...
I can't answer that. I can't do that math
All I know is that It's an adventure in which we all partake
I'm on mine now and I must have forgotten the map
I see her, I just can't find the path.

This is really skillful, neat and has a lovely flowing rhyming scheme that works right down to practically every syllable. The subject of the poem might not be new (obviously, it's love!) but the way in which the sentiment is conveyed, and the tender longing that comes with it is beautifully put across. Good work.

I never really thought about incorporating rhythm into my poetry. I'll keep that in mind next time. =)

For a first, this is very good. I has a nice flow to it. I, personally, like to have a nice rhythm in mine--probably, because I'm a musician--, but I still wouldn't change any part of this poem.
