LMD PrologueA Chapter by Angie Diane♥♥Prologue Aimi I wonder what it’s like being on stage. Under a bunch of lights. Thousands of people screaming my name. Thousands of people screaming for one more song. I sigh and look over at my poster of Black Fire. My eyes are drawn to one person in particular. Takumi. One of my best friends. The one person that shared the same dream as I did. Now, Takumi is living the life I wish I had...while I’m left behind. Still dreaming about becoming a singer. I smile a little to myself. I’m remembering the days when Takumi and I would write music together. Takumi would write the melodies to the songs. I would write the song lyrics. Those are some of my happier memories. Now, I hardly hear Takumi’s voice unless I pop in one of Black Fire’s albums. Takumi isn’t the main singer. He only provides backing vocal. (Most of the time.) Ren is the main singer of the band. Takumi plays the lead guitar. Natsuo plays the drums. Last, but not least, Riku plays the bass guitar. I really do miss getting to spend time with Takumi. He did promise to call me from time to time, but he hasn’t. The band has been too busy. They have a new album coming out in a couple of weeks. They will also be going on tour after the release. I can’t wait to hear the new album. I have heard one of the new singles they released from the album. The song is entitled Fade. The melody to the song is very powerful. Ren’s singing on this song is amazing. I was also really able to connect to the lyrics of the song. I get out of bed, I grab my phone, turn on my sound bar, and start to listen to one of my favorite songs by Black Fire. The song is called Storm. Takumi is actually the main singer on this one. Which is probably why I love it so much. I sing along with the lyrics. “I look outside the window Staring at the sights Remembering the good times Before it turned to this
Now there’s a storm inside Raging in my heart I don’t know what to do But I need to let it out
Things happen for a reason They always say But did it really have to happen Things didn’t need to change
Now there’s a storm inside Raging in my heart I don’t know what to do But I need to let it out
Think before you tell me That things needed to change I know that it was different Before you walked away
Now there’s a storm inside Raging in my heart I don’t know what to do But I need to let it out
I really need to let it out, girl I need to let it out
Now there’s a storm inside Raging in my heart I don’t know what to do But I need to let it out” Takumi sounds great in this song. The melody for the song also works really well with his voice. I’m pretty sure that Takumi also wrote this song. I believe he and Ren write most of the songs together, but I’m not sure. ~ A couple of hours later, I hear my phone ringing. I look at the caller ID. I see that my best friend, Hana, is calling me. I pick up the phone quickly. “Hey, Hana, what’s up?” “Hey girl, did you hear about what the prize for the talent show is going to be,” Hana asked. “Nope, I haven’t looked into the talent show at all. Why, what’s the prize?” “The prize is 3 tickets to a Black Fire concert! Aimi, you should sign up to compete,” Hana exclaims. She’s very excited to tell me this news. “Whoa, that’s an amazing prize!” “It really is! Do you think you’re going to audition?” “I’m not sure if I’m going to audition for the talent show yet.” “Why? You are so talented! Don’t let that talent of yours go to waste!” “I’m just a little nervous, Hana. Plus, I don’t know what I would sing for the audition,” I reply. Honestly, there are way too many options to choose from. “Choose one of your favorite songs! You sing “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” by LeAnn Rimes very well. Or wait, what’s your newest favorite song?” “Lately, my favorite song has been “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. I would need someone to perform that song with me.” “Girl, no, you don’t. You sing both parts very well on your own.” I roll my eyes. “Girl, that song is still super hard to sing with just one person.” “Fine, fine, you don’t have to sing it,” Hana sighs on the other end. “You really should audition though. I think you’ll at least have a chance at winning.” “Thank you, Hana. I still have some time to decide. I’ll think about what song to sing.” “Alright, alright, well I have to get going. I’m going to go eat dinner now,” Hana says. We say our goodbyes. I really have a tough decision to make. Do I want to audition? I’m still not really sure. Do I want to see Takumi live? Yes, I really do... I look over at the poster of Black Fire again. A decision is made. I’m going to do this talent show. Now, I just have to decide what I want to sing. © 2023 Angie Diane♥♥ |
