To MotherA Poem by A Lonely LarkeWritten on my mother's 61st birthday. Thank you so much, Terry.
there was you...
before I came you made me be you alone paid in pain through every selfish want you gave all you could through all the screams your love withstood when I wept your hands dried the tears your warm smile blazed through all my fears. when others doubted and turned their heads e'en I lost my faith yet you never did when e'er I fell apart you pulled me together and when I achieved you pushed me "do better" on days when pain was my only breathe on nights of tears and hope had left twas you who came with your small hands pulled my torn soul up and helped it to stand yet behind the smile and your noble brow I didn't know then as I know now how your heart sank and how you wept whilst in my bed I quietly slept. a dozen diamonds a lifetime of lilies a thousand thanks and the rarest rubies could ne'er pay the debt I owe or bless enough the saint I know to you, perfect you may never be but to this child you'll all always be the very most perfect Mommy... © 2017 A Lonely LarkeAuthor's Note
