Lovesong for DmitriA Poem by Amorette DuvannesA science thing! My writing isn't it's best here (but by no means it's worst), and I made a big huge pun out of chemistry! If you get this, be my friend.
Mendeleev will tell me I have eight ways to be negative,
And dismiss me, airy-fairy, to the wrong side of the step. If you, though, burning lithium red and silver-dead, Deign to go forth, (crack and fizz and explode) - You will shed your outer-skin, inner sin, And you will be lost. We are all working our way there: A Noble way, nothing to gain, nothing to lose. We want to live, but what a way to live! A dead drag, an inert shriek - And at the end of the day, is humanity really anything But a transition? Standing zombified in public square, Daily day, and being nothing more than Something hour-by-hour, something seen, But we can go, day-to-day, with our High densities and ability to withstand the Sun: We will bear the risk of the Wiser making Our most pliable wits define us. Oh, honey bear, I say it twice: You will fly off the handle. Fly loose, The genetic definition cannot make you still, You have lost yourself, too far and wide. I will try and look for a couple, to Ease the growling gruff of my stomach. And it won't be enough, at first, and we will have To work at ourselves as if our own single selves aren't enough. But darling, you can be twice the man I am An even thing. So make yourself, make yourself twice, And love me. Love me, ionically, because we are bonded, Ironically. And if you give me yours, I will give you all of mine.
