In October 1899, six months after returning home from the Land of Oz, Dorothy Gale has become a melancholic child who cannot sleep, as she is obsessed with her memories of Oz.
This worries Auntie Em and Uncle Henry who decide to take her to Dr. Worley, known for his revolutionary electric healing treatments. Before going, Dorothy's favorite chicken Billina discovers a key with an OZ glyph that Dorothy believes her friends from Oz sent to her by shooting star.
And thus the story begins !
David's Dibs:
Despite being a movie direct from
Walt Disney, it has some creeptastic moments which I feel really isn't
for small children.
There is the scene where Dorothy is to receive shock treatments in a mental ward, to make her forget the land of Oz.
The Wheelers which are like the Joker from Batman with scary faces and
day-glow paint all over them. They threaten to tear Dorothy into little
pieces and then throw them in the Deadly Desert, where anything that
touches it becomes sand. Brr !
The evil queen who has beheaded every woman in Oz and can interchange
her own head with theirs. She imprisons Dorothy and said she'll wait
until she's older before she cuts hers off.
And the Nome king who can summon up the very rocks into disfigured and nightmarish creations to chase after and scare Dorothy.
If you can get past this, it's an incredible film with amazing special
effects and definitely worth watching if you've already seen the original Wizard Of Oz from 1939 with Judy Garland.
The opening name, Fairuza Balk, is the girl that played Dorothy. So this is apparently her posted video of the movie in Youtube.
I will admit that after Wicked I am not as enthusiastic about the original Wizard of Oz movie... Not to mention I older now and I have to maintain my 'I am too old for that now' teenager-ish response to those kinds of things. XD However, this does sound interesting. Thanks for the suggestion and review. :)
