The Soviet Union and US detonate simultaneous nuclear bomb tests. Afterwards strange meteorological events begin to affect the globe.
What is discovered is that the weapons tests had a massive effect on the Earth. It becomes clear that tilt of the Earth has been changed by 11 degrees, altering the climatic zones and changing the pole and the equator.
The increasing heat has caused water to evaporate and mists to cover Britain. Eventually it is shown how the whole orbit of the Earth has been pushed towards the sun.
And thus the story begins !
