What happened today ? Well the fellow to fix and replace my front door lock came and gave me the new key. I went to see the Landlady and she gave me a new key for my mailbox, and it's lock was also changed. So - I guess I'm about back up to snuff. I need to buy a few other things missing from my new keychain, but they aren't so critical. Glad I didn't lose my PSP, I've put months of hacking work on it. I see my doctor tomorrow, I have a key to lock my place up so that is go. I also visit my sister out in the country and it will be nice to see her again. She said she has a bag of candy for me for Halloween and ROSE called to say I better save her some of it. :) And, Halloween is coming up ! Can I recommend a few safety tips ? [1] That children wear bright-colored costumes, or add reflective stripes. They shouldn't complain as it makes them flashier and stand out more. [2] Go with your kids, NEVER let them trick-or-treat alone. I mean unless they are 16 and stuff, go with them. You can sit in the car if you like. Drive them door to door if you want. Make it a group event so everyone is safe and it's still fun. So you as the parent should dress up too and go to the door unless your kid is absolutely against that, and they shouldn't be. [3] Eat NO candy or treats till you get home. Check all very carefully for anything out of place. While 99% of people in the world I think truly believe Halloween is a great time to give out awesome free candy to kids who dress up all silly crazy-like. There will be the 1% out there who want to cause harm for no good reason. Be on the lookout for that 1%, not just door-to-door but in the treats as well. [4] Keep a poison control number handy before treats are eaten, just to be on the safe side. [5] If you are worried, you can always attend church- or school- or other Halloween parties and events where free candy is given and you know everyone will be safe. [6] Either that or fill a Halloween pail with candy you buy yourself and go to the store and let them pick out kid-safe Halloween videos to watch. Look for the FAMILY rating and PG should be okay. Scooby-Doo cartoon movies are highly recommended as that's all rated G stuff and perfect for kids Halloween. Let them watch those on the main entertainment system. Set down a towel for them to sit on in the middle of the living room. Then they can watch videos and eat candy till an hour past their bedtime. And of course they need to brush their teeth thoroughly before bed. It's only once a year, you gotta let kids live a little. :) Are you afraid of things that go bump in the night ? © 2013 dw817 |
