Teenager

Teenager

A Poem by Dusty
"

This is inspired by one of my friends. Welcome to high school.

"

Lust in her eyes once more;

though she hasn't even closed the last door.

Licking lips that are yearning for a taste,

the last of the zanex pumping in her veins.

The lights seem to bright cause she has to squint,

her near-sightedness making it hard to get a glimpse.

Her friends cast her a knowing smile,

and I'm wallowing in frustration all the while.

The heart of this infuriating teen

belongs to any man

who will smile and wink.

In an instant,

her heels clacking on the floor,

she'll make her way to his side,

mumbling something incoherent in her high.

He'll laugh and look her up and down,

her friends at the table giggling,

and even strange girls granting her small smiles.

She'll take his hand and swing it around,

her mind thinking back to the romance novels.

the drugs flooding her brain make it hard to think,

to remember how she was just on the brink of pure depression

over her last obsession.

She'll screw anything that moves,

and smoke anything that doesn't,

her friends encouraging her in voices louder than the others.

Other people warn her, and try to advise,

but she's addicted,

and is infalliable in her eyes.

Parents and teachers are so blind,

can't see what she really does with her life.

I'm here only cause I know

someday she'll get sick of this game.

And when that time comes,

I'm be the one to make sure she does not go insane.

But for now,

I'll sit here and fake a smile,

as she dances in her mini-skirt,

enjoying her teenage life as the years pass her by.

You write so well and even an older person such as myself can relate..I was not nearly the writer you are at your age..as someone who works at a highschool and is around many teen girls I find your poem hits the nail on the head..Teenage life .. I would not go back to it.. the only line that I did not like was this one
I'll sit here and fake a smile,

as she dances in her mini-skirt,

enjoying her teenage years as life passes her by.

I think .. life is far from passing someone by if they are a teen.. trust me..on that
