Life After Here

Life After Here

A Poem by Laura Ann Ford

What follows this life we lead?

When the final air of life we breathe

Shall the angels come and guide us away-

To the other side of the heavenly gate

Do they sing for us and strum a tune-

On golden harps or trumpets so sweet

May we glide down streets of shimmering stone?

Or sit on the shores of lakes a sparkle

Embracing and chatting with those gone home before us

To our awe and delight can we see his face?

The one who made us and gave us and took us away

Unimaginable it all seems to be

That such a great love shall set us free

One look at our dim and wretched souls-

Such that Lucifer himself may turn from in fright

Yet the Father he forgives us and carries us home

So we may be at peace and want not more
