Already Gone

Already Gone

A Poem by Laura Ann Ford

Raindrops speckle the windows while I sit staring up at the sky.

The gray clouds are looming in my head, hazing my vision and my judgment.

I can’t move forward from this spot, all I can think of is you.

A horn blows behind me but I am unaware.

I wonder now if you think of me or am I a fool?

The lights still green and I finally see.

Put my foot on the gas and speed away, but you are still there.

I can’t shake you, can’t leave you behind.

I barely know you so why do I want you so bad.

Giving my heart to a stranger would be a mistake but somehow…

Somehow, it doesn’t feel that way.

Reach out to me with your loving arms.

Please catch me before I fall…

Too late, I’m already gone.
