The End

The End

A Poem by Laura Ann Ford

When it all comes to an end, what happens next?

Does life come to a screeching halt or does it continue to go ‘round?

I am alone in an unfamiliar place-

One I never dreamed I’d be in

It may have been a long time coming-

But it seems to have been an abrupt end

The violence so bad on both ends of the spectrum

Broken promises, lies and shattered dreams-

Lay mixed with the rumble of broken glass, beer and bruises

There’s an aching in my soul, my heart and body

My mind has grown so weary I can barley think

I was blind; I was a fool- continuing to hang on when everyone pleaded for me to get out

I drug it on until the babies were caught in the crossfire of our extinction

How much of it all was really my fault?

Do I have only you to blame?

I went the wrong way, turned to the wrong people

Your friends, my friends, families, the kids

While we destroyed each other, we were destroying them

Now no one is left and who is to blame?

You will move on and forget about me-

Do your damage to some other blind fool

I will sit alone in the dark and wait for the light to return.

'The End' is a creative write, Laura. I don't read it to be the "end" though, I read it as a writer's reflective look at the past and the present, holding onto hope, and I really think "the light will return." That's just my opinion though. Forgive me for being bold. I don't know who "you" is in the poem. I read the poem and wonder. Does that particular person reflect too? I like your poem. Thank-you for sharing.

This is really interesting, I like this idea a lot, it's very enrapturing, yet not too overdone. The language used flowed really well.
