Melissa and Floyd attempted dating since they trusted each other very much, and were very honest and open with each other.

 

Though they never kissed or did anything beyond that, they did look out for each other and you could say that they felt borderline young love for each other. But, they didn't, they just felt strongly for each other.

 

It went pretty well, they decided to again, value their friendship over dating just in case something happened, and that's about it.

 

...although they were close to kissing one time at the movies....
