Birthday Girl

Birthday Girl

A Poem by Paladin4life
"

This poem was inspired by my ex girlfriend whose birthday is tomorrow. She is no longer a member on the site so it is not to her. It is just a vent about our destroyed relationship.

"

Happy Birthday to you my dear ex

I hope you are enjoying the ring I gave you

So does it still sparkle like it did a month ago

You know the night you said I love you

Happy Birthday to you my former companion

So tell me what did your parents say

When you told them about the white knight

How you sent him away

Happy Birthday my jilted happy ever after

Im sure I won't be missed by them

I doubt you miss me either

I hope you take good care of the ring

Happy Birthday my former lady

So another year older and yet no closer to love

Perhaps love arrived a month ago

But you sent him away

Happy Birthday last month's dream

I have awakened to the world I knew

The world before we met

Except now I bear your wound deep within

Happy Birthday someone else's happy ending

I loved you and miss you but each day

Each day offers hope of someone new

Someone that will not cast me away on a whim.

Not entirely sure what to say here. I've been through the same thing (well not been through, its not like this is a chore) and its not particually good (especially if she decides to invite you, and you get so sit and watch her and her current boyfriends kiss. I like the spiteful nature to the poem. The only thing i would chance is the mention of 'white knights' Because for me this conjures an image of the Ku Klux Klan.

This seems to be a very bitter poem, but I loved the way you ended it with new hope.
