Rocking the boat.

Rocking the boat.

A Story by dukovan

A naked boat stripped for scrap,

for firewood,

just for the night.

"I wouldn't if I were you."

A captains fate,

a double knot.

Sealing laces in his quarters' cot,

of the most most impressive prize he could have thought.

"So how could I not?"

God's face reflected off of the ocean.

There wouldn't be any sleep.

And all of those angels,

with different agendas,

so restless above and beneath.

A scuddled soul and an angels mast,

his wrung out heart,

every second chance,

until his final breath.

She waits on shore,

her wings are worn,

but her heart is made of stone,

with time the tide,

eventually will erode.

Her stoney stare and dreamless nights,

she's scared to close her eyes,

for fear of what she'll see.

Her leaky eyes,

and his sinking legs,

a heavy heart,

"never got that ring anyways."

His stary eyes,

are her freckled face,

connecting them all the same.

"It'll never be the same."

So here come the tears,

flushing debris

of splintered wood,

and God-awful dreams.

"Hope lied to me"

"You can't trust the sea."

Here comes the rain,

cooling the shame,

and he cried

the best way a man can cry.

"Its funny how with all of that ocean,

I couldn't see past my hands"

The devil was dressed in satin,

either way he got his laugh.

Your poem is so descriptive that I can visualize some of the things your mention such as "So here comes the tears, flushing debris of splintered wood, and God-awful dream." That is very visually connecting! Good work with this one, even if your work has my mind jumping through loops to find the underlined message. :)

I really like this. It all makes sense, it's all localized in a visual scene, which I can easily see. "Here comes the rain, cooling the shame." -- Keep up the good work (:

I really like the story of this work.. it is a little awkward in spots.. but maybe it is me.. I might need to read it a few more times..
