The line, the knife and the hook.

The line, the knife and the hook.

A Poem by dukovan

I'll trace my neck,
with the back of a knife.
Just for the attention,
just for tonight.

But I'm still afraid,
to be cast out like bait.
Drowning a purpose,
for a switch-blade escape.

Ponder the days,
as the ripples make more.
Exchange a mangled gaze,
with a strung shadow at shore.

Evacuate the watery maze,
every hall here leads to blame.
Controlling my gaze,
the walls start to break,
like waves making waves,
making waves.

A bigger fish, swallowed you.
The sea is split
we're walking through.
The time we have is time enough.
It'll all be over soon.

I'm no poet..... it's well documented, but.... I'd say this looks like a poem to me.... but definitely get a second opinion.

Mmmm...hmmmm....I really like this:

"Controlling my gaze,
the walls start to break,
like waves making waves,
making waves."

You've got a unique and interesting style, smooth and cool...this piece feels ike the exhaled result of a bong hit.

I also like the line:

"Drowning a purpose,
for a switch-blade escape."

See what I mean? You're like a lyrical cowboy, lassoing prose like Wild Bill Coty...:)

This is catchy and a rapid read of easy images, it assimilates nicely while provoking a kind of surrealistic high.
