how to end a story

how to end a story

A Poem by dukovan

I wanted a cellar door in this story
my spine intact
I'm not looking for a way out
just a beautiful grouping of floorboards
with a black iron handle

Fear is fluttering the underbelly
the beast is afoot
A sky to look towards is probably necessary
to give the birds your thoughts
as they leave the rustling trees

Scathing the scales, watching my words
I don't know how this story ends
As I write to you and everyone I loved
my attention shifts
and the candle leans towards the window

I'm watching time grow out of itself
You told me I had changed once
I saw things I didn't know
I spent time watching shadows take shape
As the letters on the page rearranged
into your names

Everything begins to curve in the room
as a silver mist enters
it's warping space-time and I'm the Martian
It arcs from the window to my desk
So I know the story must go on

Here's how your story unfolds -- at first, somewhat fretting about the mechanics of writing . . . then gradually becoming more & more engrossed in suggesting your imaginative possibilities . . . until finally it feels like you're actually writing the story . . . instead of writing about writing the story. Such a drifting perspective is a creative touch. Imaginative descriptions thru-out (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You just made my day. Thanks so much for reading.
Sometimes we become engulfed in thick dirt fog that slowly creeps up and surrounds us until there’s only hazy fog all around - but yes the story goes on- love the picture painted here🌹
