a piece of mindA Poem by dukovan
Fitting a piece of your mind
Carpenter father, figured he'd have the time You struggled to sift out the lie made nice with politics, made time to think A space in this cupboard for now coffee and cameos for the hometown a life indecision to get out of crowds a rounded block of wood A hardening heart, late December remember to pray if for only a minute bedtime and bravery, baggage for baby a place to call our own The ashes, the fire, an album forgot what I was doing here maybe it's fine if she says it's fine but maybe I don't know the difference When I died in a dream it kept going the old atom bomb and my mangled shelter a youth for a pastors kid a problem you said you'd solve but the mysteries growing our the fire the family sits close and the flames just get hotter A waxing moon like feeling minding the pasting complaining, unwinding we felt the wind at our backs and spoke of the things we haven't done yet
