window pain

window pain

A Poem by dukovan

There is a dog laying up on the couch
There is a reason I won't sleep alone
There is a house I can see from my yard
There is a season, like it or not.

You are a window and you change all the time
I am a shelter that is losing my mind
So I swallowed a simile
and paced around for a while.

I was a blind man drawing my life
pulling the shades down
waiting it out.

I blamed the weather my health and your parents
I'm so slow to learn
what it means to be home.

Now I can see everything that you see
and everyone you see.
