false sense of security

false sense of security

A Poem by dukovan

You're awfully quiet these days
And at night you might as well be standing silent in the room.

The door is still open to the garage
I left the lights on
for a false alarm once an eternity.
A false sense of security.

Once you were gone and I
Blinked so fast to try to capture time
Into frames and I shuddered
When I heard you say my name

Oh my god when I sleep
I sleep to get away from you.
Oh my god you must be so pissed.
And oh my god not this again

Once in a while
You forget about
Everything that's not impossible
And I wouldn't call it beautiful
I'd rather use that word for you.

So sleep
Oh sleep soundly
I'm bound to meet up with you.
Even if I won't make it
It's up to you.
Bound to make it up to you.

When I read this, I felt like I'd been punched in the chest. Unfortunately it's so relatable.

"Once in a while you forget about everything that's not impossible."
I really liked this line because I believe I can be guilty of this and it was a harsh reminder that every failed relationship has two guilty parties.

This poem felt raw and carried all of your truths. Thank you for sharing!

This was lovely. I especially liked the lines "And I wouldn't call it beautiful
I'd rather use that word for you." So sweet. Great poem :)
