wave back

wave back

A Poem by dukovan

Aloft the treasured heart, here I stand

like a treasure cluttered lawn.

in place of all the concrete

is sand and glass dissolved.

Leave the  blessings on the porch

counting off reasons and adding the hours.

Slipping through the seasons

I caught your ghost from last fall.

I stare off into space and lose my feet

and the footing I once, though hardly knew.

Again beside me to shoulder blame,

as if for intentional consequence

is the annoying sibling to swallow the rain with me.

If you can find the time

to dissect my body to read my mind

you should just take the picture

and hang me on the wall.

To be a mere insect or a mere stain

a shadow cast by an oak to shade the palms

that stay as stains until dawn,

to read with me the future that we lost.

What point were you trying to get across?

Its better to laugh it all off.

You noticed the roof was finally gone

Its over my head by the time its lost,

or missed.

Golden arches that stretch beyond me and back again

passive trinkets to pass the memories

back and forth

though ebbs wave back

so you ought to wave back the same.
