The spirit of things.

The spirit of things.

A Poem by dukovan

eventually i wont be too long.
give them a reason for now,
stall them a while
while i write the songs.

You can sing them and I'll mouth along.

You said the spirit of things
gets lost in the sink
every time we spit just to drink.

Inane indecision
gets lost in descriptions.
Dot every eye
holy pupil decisions,
finding a good way to die.

Teach me how not to live,
such a shorter list.
Much better on the eyes.

There's things i don't need
that I see when I bleed.
I want you in my sight,
or at least in my life.

The blacks leak into whites,
and are swallowed by light,
I'm singing through you every night.

the out of body experience kind of grabbed me by the throat as I was re-reading it
"dotting the eye" was kind of a good follow up and extension of the theme
you have a solid and dry tone of disenchantment..sarcasm, kind of dark and tired
you went pretty deep with your expressions/realizations; it took courage and skill
to kind of surface with your plea and your epiphany/truth-statement
there's a certain separation and synergy between poetry and song lyrics here
it's kind of detached haunting; I'm glad I was enough in the mood to read/review tonight

music, art, writing, they're all made for each other
you've got it, the very spirit of it :)
