Godspeed

Godspeed

A Poem by dukovan

Godspeed in heaven, could you give me the time?
I've been pacing and thinking about where I could go.
You answered swiftly and spoke within rhyme.
"My son you're moving for somebody else."

Have you mistaken me for my old self?
"You're missing out on what you once built."
Goddamn I'm tired of fooling around.
I've loved just one woman but hid her at home.

That scarf is hanging on an old mannequin.
Purposely shapen, he stands still in time.
His truth becomes fashioned in repeatable sin,
though, I've been mistaken at times and again.

Godspeed, I'm tired; could you give me the time?
My baby girl's lonely with nowhere to go.
I'm window shopping with her on my mind.
Through my reflection, I can see her inside

How could I blame you when you're just like me?
I know I'm never certain and I think you'd agree.

Godspeed come save me; do you have the time?
I'm lost in heaven, running around blind.
