Autumn drives.

Autumn drives.

A Poem by dukovan
"

the colors of the year burst during these short weeks.

"
We've got nine miles to go.
  It's ten through the snow.
   We've got nowhere to go
but the tank is running low.
Oh, what a good way to die.
Is there any wrong way to die?
             I've got nothing to prove
and nothing new to say to you tonight.

     We've got nowhere to go,
but no one needs to know.
I think that you should go.
                                Yeah, just play it cool.
Don't tell the kids at school
              and speak.
We've got nine miles to go
and I hoped that you would know
          Fall is coming soon
and you've got a bag of leaves
                                   and no more room.
We're shopping for new shades,
just to hide from the day.
We leave the living room
just like the other kids at school.
If I leave my friends behind,
they won't be hard to find.

Its the best that I can do
just getting to know you.
You've got those stoney eyes,
but we've only just arrived.
Things are looking up
but enough is never enough
so whats the use?

This is such an amazing poem!!! Speaks of courage, acceptance of the inevitable, a lifetime of a journey and embracing hardships with open arms... This reminded me of the famous Robert Frost quote .
" The words are lovely dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep"
Hats off to you sir! This is no less a poem! Going to my favorites :)
