Don't be a stranger to yourself

Don't be a stranger to yourself

A Poem by dukovan

Why cant I keep you here?
I'm scratching at the walls
where the patches cover holes.
Oh no.

I am but a ghost.
Its nothing but a song.
I have uncompleted covers
I'm playing in the mirror
here's another I wont know.
Oh no.

Neurotic and appalled,
I am living in the walls,
haunting just myself.

Nostalgically involved,
I always want it all.
So I try to write a song
with a tune to carry my body home.

I'll be making time
instead of wishes and spending mine.

I've been nothing but involved
I hoped to matter more than that.
I am nothing but involved,
I couldn't matter more than that.

To me its Coming back to yourself, re-examing what it's all about for you...I love the last stanza, hear it as repeated over and over and fading...
I think of being "involved" yet not feeling what would fill it all in with what we want most. I really like this one!

I love the third to last stanza--very haunting.

Curious, what kind of music would this go to? Slower guitar? Thumb-strummed? That's how I imagined it at least.
