Sitting in the Shade

Sitting in the Shade

A Poem by Dukesrunner

Through the Valley of Death,

I drift through its shadow

To rest in its shade.

I do not fear evil,

A fine line defends of

Iniquity scouring the shield that surrounds me.

But I observe it,

Indirectly, I watch it,

I notice how it scorches the earth,

Scorns the grass and breaks the clouds.

The light addicts by touch,

But destroys the curious look.

Too mighty for searching eyes,

A glance upon vice

Punishable by blight.

I do not fear evil.

I see the Rod beat upon Life,

The gashes pour open

And in evil seeps,

Mending the broken spirit

Putting in place the shattered soul

With fake balms and flammable Oils,

Laid heavy-thick to disguise the chains,

Hung tight against that burning Table;

That which ignites the vexed patient.

I can’t bear to watch the crime

The disgracing eyes

That sweep across my shelter.

Through the Valley of Death,

I drift through its shadow

To rest in its shade.

I do not fear evil.

I wonder if it fears me.

Author's Note

Dukesrunner
Wrote this one a while back, but I guess I never really got around to publishing it. I can't say I'm too proud of it. I ripped a good deal of it from a common source - the Bible, but I'll leave it up to you on how to interpret my rendition.
