Swing Away

Swing Away

A Poem by Dukesrunner

Those swings way out in the sunset,

A seat for you I’ll always save.

Till night falls and the light’s reset,

Relive the pendulum at bay.

Our lives our seats, swing in motion

Hand in hand, we’ll fly together.

Mountains cowered, we’ll scale oceans,

Hands clasped to our steeds; each other.

I’ll look to you, gowned in beauty

Your hair gentle blown in the breeze.

No jewels sapphire nor ruby

Could perfect your scene: sweet, serene.

Were I the sky, I’d steer the sun,

Brighten your day, blind it’s blights.

The night? Moonbeams for sunlight done,

You’d swing laughing through the starlight.

If I could, trees would bow to you

Cradle you up to views sublime,

The ambiance would match your mood

I’d make it rain, were you to cry.

Instead, I’ll swing my swing unfurled,

And save that seat for you beloved.

Still, all the swears in this small world,

Can’t ever explain for you my love.

Author's Note

Dukesrunner
Again for my Literature class, this was written as a Love Song, mimicking... "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love" by Christopher Marlowe. Obviously, I got the rhyme scheme off... but whatever. I enjoyed writing the poem. It's rather simple and strightforward, as it should be, and thus I've nothing more to say for it. Enjoy.
